1. How long have you been providing soccer services?
We have been providing soccer services since 1998. Our physiotherapy clinic has been a destination for soccer players of all abilities for the past 15 years.

2. What is the best age to start the speed programs?
The content of each program is age and skill specific and programs begin from 9 years old.

3. Are parents allowed to watch the programs?
We have found that athletes perform better with only the program instructors present. Coaches should try to attend, but this is not mandatory. Parents are, however, welcome to watch testing.

4. How long are the programs?
Programs typically run once per week for 10 weeks, or twice weekly for 5 weeks. Players maximize gain by completing 2 - 3 programs per year. (20 - 30 sessions)

5. What should I bring with me to the indoor facility?
Players will need to bring a flat soled indoor soccer shoe and appropriate gym clothes. Soccer balls are provided. Water is on-site but many participants bring their own water.

6. Do you provide "on field" sessions as well as the program at your clinic in Brampton.
Yes we provide on field sessions.

7. What is the cost of the program?
$200.00 for 10 sessions provided at the clinic.

8. Can we come for 2 sessions a week?
Yes you can! This is a popular option during the winter months. Many teams will come for 2 programs back to back (a total of 20 sessions over 10 weeks) to maximize improvements.

9. What is the Tryout Assessment service?
The Speed for Soccer staff will come to your tryouts and assess the players on a number of different tests. At the end of testing the coach will see how each player performed on various protocols including speed, lateral movements and speed endurance tests.

10. I'm contacting universities, can I get tested to see how fast I am?
Yes, you can!
We can perform tests including your speed, lateral speed and agility, speed endurance and power. This data can be compared to others in your age group and is very popular with U.S. coaches.

11. I've been to speed programs before, what makes this different?
You will be assessed by professionals who look at movement, strength, power and speed. The physiotherapist or physio-trained staff member is uniquely qualified to help you improve.

12. Every time we do sprints at soccer practice I'm in pain?
This is a very common concern. You should be assessed by a physiotherapist to find the cause of your pain and determine how full sports participation should be modified. This can be arranged at our clinic.

13. What is the smallest group you do?
We perform small group sessions of 4 individuals. However, individual sessions can be arranged at a premium.

14. Can boys and girls practice together?
Yes. We do many mixed groups.

15. Can my 10 and 14 year old attend sessions together?
It depends. We generally will use age only as a rough guideline. If athletes are close together in skeletal maturity they will usually be able to train together.

16. I'm fast but I'm not strong. Can you help?
Yes. We have special strength and conditioning sessions. A physiotherapist can also develop a specific home exercise program for you.

Absolutely. We have assembled a unique blend of coaches, ex-players and physiotherapist with over 20 years experience dealing with all levels of soccer players.

Yes. Our educational series is very popular with teams, coaches and club technical directors.

20. I am a novice coach, what program would you suggest?
Our technical sessions are a blend of technical and movement skills training. We have had excellent feedback from coaches who enroll in this program.

21. Will I get faster?
You will get faster but, like any other skill, your improvement will be determined by how much you practice and how hard you work.

22. How can you measure my speed?
We measure your speed on our state-of-the-art speed timing equipment.

Yes. Due to the demand from our winter programs, we have started summer camps. Information and registration forms are available on our Web site.
Our 3-day camps will be held at the Caledon East Soccer Complex.

25. What makes speed for soccer camps different?
You will learn to move like a soccer player and minimize your risk of injury. Our staff, will teach and train the critical movement skills and introduce technical training to complement your ability.

We can come to your practice and run sessions or test your players.

30. What time of day do sessions start?
On site sessions can be scheduled between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Small groups sessions of 10 start in early afternoon especially in the summer.

31. I'm uncoordinated, is this the right program for me?
We can determine whether a program or a specific program designed by our physiotherapist is the best first step for you prior to you starting any of our programs.

32. Will this make me a better player?
Yes. Once you learn to move better you can have more impact at practices and in games.

33. What is the player to instructor ratio?
The ratio varies but will never be higher than 16:1 (approximately 1 instructor per team). Our usual ratio is 10/12:1. These ratios are important to allow adequate work and rest periods.

34. Can this do anything for me that I can't get from my team or academy?
The quality of the program will always be determined by the qualifications and experience of the staff. There are few places where you will find the blend of soccer coaching and sports science background that we have at speed for soccer.

36. Is each session the same?
All sessions are different for every person/group that enters the program. The speed for soccer staff will assess the skill level of the participants and design a program best suited to their needs. There will be a different focus each week.

37. We have done the program once; will it be the same again if we return?
No, once a basic skill set is acquired, returning groups/participants will be challenged with more advanced activities. This prevents the "recipe" like approach often seen in other programs.

The goalkeeping sessions are small group sessions focusing on the unique requirements of the goalkeeper.
Our sessions are conducted by goalkeepers with extensive scientific background.
Programs are modified to the needs of each group.
